Best Friends

Heart2Heart Challenge - "Fern" was used to make this Note Card which is one of the CTMH colors, plus used a die-cut flourish that represents fern.  Please hop on over to Heart2Heart to see the many inspirations and creative designs from each of the Design Team members and the many submissions to these challenges. Too late to join in the March challenges, but stop by again for the April challenges...you have a whole month to submit your projects.

Two of the Card Flourish were cut, the White Daisy one being used for the fold card, and the Fern cardstock, using only the cut of the flourish, adhered to the top of the card and sentiment was stamped in Fern and then layered and 3D Foam Tape to add dimension.

This card was put together in less than a hour, certainly a record for me, and quite pleased with the simplicity and elegance of this card.

Mom, You Are Special

Day 8...Be sure to stop on over to the Spring Coffee Lover's BlogHop and check out all the great projects and cards...they are filled with inspiration...join in the fun...you have until the 25th (today) to submit cards that are Spring themed and include coffee, tea or hot chocolate.

This is my last card for the Coffee BlogHop.  It's a Birthday Card that will be used in the future by hopefully one of my Grandchildren.  The background is my personalized design paper using a variety of coffee stamps, randomly stamped on White Daisy and colored. Added some flowers that were stamped in a variety of inks to Spring it up.

This photo shows the Sentiment Detail.  The label was cut from Cricut Design Space and stamped with VersaMark, heat embossed using Black powder, colored with ShinHan alcohol-based pens, and adhered to background using 3D regular Foam Tape. One special cup was stamped, colored, heat embossed with clear powder, fussy-cut and adhered to the background paper with 3D thin Foam Tape.

This next photo shows the inside of the card which was just stamping flowers from the same stamp set in the same colors as used on the outside of the card, and other stamped sentiments.

Happy To Be Friends

Welcome to this week's Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #186.  Join us in this week’s challenge using only and all the colors in photo (Gypsy, Lagoon and White Daisy.) You have until Thursday, March 31, 2016 to create and link up your project for another great color combination....look forward to seeing your inspirations for this color challenge.

The Color Challenge was combined with the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #152, and Between the Fold Weekly Challenge #17B, using an embossing folder.

Here is the You Tube tutorial on how to create a embossing background "Cuddlebugged Wax Paper" technique.  I used this technique for both the Lagoon background, and the one behind the sentiment using Gypsy.

Here is a close-up photo of the Sentiment label on Vellum so that the Gypsy embossing technique pattern shows through.  Flowers were cut from Cricut Design Space, adhered, and then gypsy glitter paper placed in the center of each flower.

This photo shows the layers added to the outside of the card using both the regular and thin foam tapes.  The inside added a triangular border and added some of the additional flowers that were cut....so I wouldn't put them in a stash which probably would never to be used again.

Are You Kitten Me

Day 7...Be sure to stop on over to the Spring Coffee Lover's BlogHop and check out all the great projects and cards...they are filled with inspiration...join in the fun...you have until the 25th to submit as many cards as you want that are Spring themed and include coffee, tea or hot chocolate.

This card was made for my oldest son's birthday, which is today...he currently has a cat named Thurman (named after a Buffalo Bills football star) that looks so much like this image and he definitely wants his food.

All About Thurman:  Thurman would invite himself into my son's home because my son, when he was home, would leave his sliding door open for his other cats (Mars and Lars) so that they could run in and out as they pleased.  Thurman would strut in and eat his other cats' food and Mars and Lars didn't discourage Thurman because they were older and more frail, and Thurman was very authoritative and BIGGER.

Thurman had one tooth that would hang outside of his mouth which was either a defect or he was a lone warrior living in the desert, so I added this tooth to the image. And, if I didn't put it on the correct side, I'm sure I will hear about it from my son...such a perfectionist.

Thurman's visits went on for a good year, and his visits were more frequent and longer, and even took it upon himself to stay overnite, at which time he decided that David should adopt him.  David lost his other two cats which he had for 16 plus years...took Thurman to the vet to see if there was an identification for the previous owner (none) and now Thurman has been in the family for at least 3 years. An outside cat, with an outside personality, became a house cat and he is so lovable and visits with us when David goes out of town, and he is still BIG and loves his snacks.

So, this stamp image was so appropriate for a birthday card.  I have to finish the inside, and I'm going to put his age in BIG NUMBERS, and use the same sentiment "Are You Kitten Me?" next to the large number.

My daughter suggested I color the paw prints with coffee stain...well that meant I had to make coffee this afternoon...oh well I deserved another cup. Colored the paw prints using my left-over coffee...coffee was a little weak so my card does not smell like coffee.  I'll have to look up this technique for my next coffee inked card.

Here's a close up of Thurman...showing a tooth that would hang out of the side of his mouth and his expression was very much like this.  He doesn't look so friendly, but he likes and needs a lot of attention, and food.

Ooops, I just pulled a picture up of Thurman...tooth on wrong side...will have to change kitty on card before we celebrate David's birthday.  Why didn't I pull this picture up before I did the tooth?  He's so adorable.

New Photo:  Thurman was stamped, colored and fussy-cut again and tooth put on the correct side and eyes changed to green.

In Memory of Lars and Mars, Thurman's brothers.

Brentwood Has a Girl Friend

Day 7...Be sure to stop on over to the Spring Coffee Lover's BlogHop and check out all the great projects and cards...they are filled with inspiration...join in the fun...you have until the 25th to submit as many cards as you want that are Spring themed and include coffee, tea or hot chocolate.

Last year I made an ornament with Brentwood, and this year I decided that Brentwood needed a girl friend.  These images are Freebies from Jessica Lynn Digi's.

For Brentwood I used the image where he was holding the coffee cup, colored with ShinHan alcohol-based pens, and then fussy-cut.  Choosing the image with the heart and using plaid design paper,  drew in the scalloped collar and sleeve, adhered to another printed image, layered the heart, colored, fussy-cut and added a flower to her pink hair.

I'd seen a card on PaperPrincess blog and wanted to put a little spin on it...so off to Cricut Design Space wherein I designed the slide panel, cut on the bean design paper, adhered it to brown cardstock with 3D regular foam tape.  Stamped, colored, fussy-cut, covered with liquid glass for glass affect and used two dimes for the slider, attached to coffee pot and placed dimes in the slider.

I was particularly happy with how the Coffee Pot looks like glass...but I couldn't figure out a way for the coffee to pour out when it got over the mouse's cup.

After making sure that the slider worked appropriately, out came the coffee stamps and my selection were the mice in a cup, stamped, colored, fussy-cut, liquid glass on the noses and sugar, adhered to card with 3D Thin Foam Tape.

Final embellishments and sentiment added.  Then I played with the card and poured many cups of coffee and didn't spill a drop.  Had a lot of fun making this card.

A Cup of Tea Shaker Card

Day 5...Be sure to stop on over to the Spring Coffee Lover's BlogHop and check out all the great projects and cards...they are filled with inspiration...join in the fun...you have until the 25th to submit as many cards as you want that are Spring themed and include coffee, tea or hot chocolate.

This card was created using the Heart2Heart Challenge for "Retirement".  The entire card was created using the retired PaperPak CTMH "Taste of Summer" design papers, except for the tag with sentiment.  The Yellow background was a scrap that was the negative left over from a sun die-cut.  The selection of this scrap served as a great Shaker cut out which was adhered to another design paper.  The cup and saucer were cut in Cricut Design Space using other design papers in PaperPak.

Twine was tied from the sentiment Tag to the Coffee Cup to represent a tea bag.  A butterfly was added for an embellishment.  Below is a picture of the Shaker with all the beautiful sequins.

This card was created using the Sketch from The Outlawz, Wednesday Sketch Challenge, and the stamps that I won in a recent BlogHop for Craftin Desert Divas for their sneak preview of new products.

The coffee cup was cut in pattern paper, the lid and sleeve in cardstock and sentiment added..  The chicks were colored with ShinHan alcohol-based pens in variable colors and fussy-cut.  A bubble cut for the other sentiment and then everything was placed on the background paper with 3D Regular or Thin Foam Tape.

The ribbon strips across the top and bottom, along with a paper bow, were adhered to the background.  A border of the plaid design paper was cut and adhered to the inside of the card and space left for a personal note.
