Up, Up, and Away

This card was created for the Heart2Heart Challenges for "Change". This card represents my interpretation of "Change"...(1) Unfortunately we are unable to go to the Balloon Fiesta so why not bring the Balloon Fiesta into a magic sliding card (2) October season now going from Green to Fall colors, and (3) Balloon change from black and white and disappears like magic to a very colorful balloon.

Heart2Heart Challenge "Change"

Monday, September 28, 2015

Our final September challenge is the theme of change. It might be the changing seasons, a big change in your life, or even the change in your pocket.  We can't wait to see how you interpret this theme challenge!
In October we quite frequently go to the Albuqueque International Balloon Fiesta...in hopes of good weather and winds no stronger than 9 miles an hour or the balloon flights will be cancelled.  One year we took our son-in-law and due to the bad weather no balloons were seen except for the one just outside of Albuqueque at the Route 66 Casino.

My daughter has been doing a lot of Emma (Paper Sweeties) and I thought she would be a cute addition to my card...so I pried Emma away, for the day, which was quite a challenge. As soon as I finish this posting I will be visiting Emma's friends and will probably be forced...lol...to make a purchase.  I had a lot of fun making this card and hope you enjoy it as much.

Georgie Hush Little Baby

When I viewed the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #127 this morning, my immediate thought was to use the Elephant PaperPak "Georgie" and a sentiment of Tons of Fun.  Well it didn't turn out anything like I had planned in my head because when I looked at the the Complements for this paper I fell in love with them and decided to make a fairly clean and simple card.

After I cut the papers to match the sketch, I added the two elephants and the "Hush, Little Baby" using 3D Thin Tape to raise them from the banners.  I used my Stitch Guide and pieced holes in my card and then hand-stitched with turquoise thread.  It still needed something, so I cut out some of the centers of the circles from the paper and adhered them with 3D Thin Foam Tape so they popped from the design paper. Using the cricut I cut out the Artiste label and stamped the sentiment.  The soft colors made it a perfect Congratulations Baby Card.

I spent more time on the initial thought process of what I thought my original plan was, then I did on making this card, and it's only noon here in Arizona (MT).  Lucky day, I'll have time for another card.

Flower Child

Well I had no idea what I was going to do with the The Outlawz's September Progressive Freebie Challenge.  The Flower Child Image #4 was provided by Nicecrane Designs.   I knew I wanted to come out of my comfort zone and create a different look than my usual cards...wanted something vintage using distressing, doilies, gold, glitter, beads and have her surrounded by flowers using the crunched flower technique...and this is my creation of everything I wanted to accomplish with this card.

My daughter introduced me to the Crunched Flower Technique...The flowers are cut in various sizes from the Art Philosophy Cartridge. Spray flowers with water, crunch, open (crunch more if needed) dry, spray glitter paint, dry (distress if desired) and layer flowers.  To see many of Lisa's creations of these crunched flowers go to her blog Life of a BZScrapper.

Fall Paper Garden

I love this stamp set and have wanted to use it for quite some time now; however, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it.  There have been a lot of beautiful cards out there and I finally decided on doing triple time stamping and the Color My Heart Color Dare #161 combination of Fall colors this week just seemed like such a beautiful match for these images.   Used one of the images for the main focal point and from there just added the many images until I filled the card up.  I still had one larger image left and chose it to be on the inside  (see picture below)

Color Dare:  Poppy is a new color, a sort of orangy-red, so if you don't have it yet, Autumn Terracotta or Cranberry would be good substitutions.

Kangaroo Hoppy Birthday

This Child's Birthday Card is for the Heart2Heart Coloring Challenge for September using the Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2-69 for the sketch.  Instead of using a digital image on a coloring challenge, I decided to use a couple images from Stamp Set Happy Birthday Australasia and these two pieces had a lot of fussy-cutting.

EEK Zentangle Stamping Halloween Card

This card was made in particular for the September 20, 2015 Heart2Heart Challenge "Doodling." I further challenge myself by combining other challenges to create something that incorporates the requirements of each challenge.  For Color: ColorMyHeart Color Dare #160; For Sketch: Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #126; and did a Halloween theme for entry in a new random draw challenge at ChouxChoux Challenge #1.

Let's start with the background of this card.  A neighbor and friend of mine introduced me to the Zentangle technique (definition:  a freehand style using abstract patterned drawings and should not be representative of any certain recognizable object)  Well, I improvised and used a variety of stamps sets for my abstracts and also added Halloween recognizable objects.  My daughter has continually told me "in any crafting there are no boundaries, you can do what you want".

Heart2Heart Challenges - Monday, September 21, 2015,  Incorporate "Doodling" into your artwork this week. Doodling is incorporated more and more into fun designs and it will be enjoyable to see how you interpret this.

This card was so much fun...Went through my different stamp sets and picked out small stamps that I thought would make a nice pattern and other stamps for the Halloween images.  The background covered the black and white for the color challenge, now I have to bring in the other two colors which were so appropriate for Fall (Goldrush and Ruby).  No fussy-cutting on this card, all the images were die-cuts from Cricut Design Space, and adhered them with 3D Thin Foam Tape and Clear Wink of Stella added to the spider and cat.  On the inside I used some of the extra cuts, and added the Sentiment.

Card Trick Quilt - Warm Wishes

This card was made for the Heart2Heart Challenge "Poppy Color Challenge" and the inspiration for this card came from viewing quilting patterns after a friend posted quilts in a Facebook Group.   This particular pattern is called "Card Trick," which seemed like such an appropriate name for my Quilt Card.

Heart2 Heart "Poppy Color Challenge" - September 1, 2015
This week's challenge is a Color Challenge and we invite you to use this poppy picture as your color inspiration!  The Close To My Heart colors to use are Topiary, Lagoon, Glacier, Sunset and Cranberry.

     "Card Trick" Quilt Pattern"

Of course this quilt pattern was a 12x12 so I proportioned it down to a 6x6 for my card, cut all  the different pieces from Paper Fundamentals for each of the colors in the challenge (five colors five designs), glued on a piece of cardstock and then put through an embossing folder.  I used left over pieces to make a matching panel for the Sentiment in the Center and adhered with 3D thin foam tape.

The card looked a little plain and I had no idea what I was going to do from this point because I really didn't want to cover the design of the quilt panel.  Why not use Vellum...so a doily was cut using my Cricut, sponged each card color on the back side and then glued in center panel before placing the Sentiment "Warm Wishes".  Still needed something...

Went through my stash and found a glitter paper butterfly and addded pearls to the body and placed on corner of sentiment.  Found a pretty flower stamp that was small enough to add to the corners of the sentiment, stamped, sponged, fussy-cut, heat embossed and adhered using 3D thin foam tape.

Splatter

This card was made for the ColorMyHeart Color Dare #159 using the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #125 which also met the requirement for the Heart2Heart "Splat" Challenge.  Since I was going to work with a "splat" why not take the Koala Bear Stamp-Set and change his tree branch into a paint brush and use the Ink Blot Flair stamp-set for paint splats.  A paint palette cut from Cricut Design Space was used for the background adding several circles of color with liquid glass on each to appear as wet and give it dimension.  Paint cans were also a Cricut Cut.  Finally added beads to Koala's eyes and still trying to think of a sentiment I want on this card.

Halloween Thank You Card

This is a 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 Card that was made for my daughter-in-law for a Thank You Card to pass out for anyone stopping at her Chocolate Table at September/October local Fairs and Festivals in the Buckeye, Arizona area. This card was used to promote her business and give thanks for those who purchased.  A calling card was enclosed with this.

Piglet's 1st Birthday

Okay, what's Pink...of course Pooh's close Friend, Piglet...and what wouldn't be cuter than Piglet for a 1st Birthday Card wishes from all his friends.  I haven't done a lot of stitching on cards and because of my hesitancy for fear of spoiling my card, I decided to use a background paper that had that look of zig-zag stitches in it.  This again is a combination of ColorMyHeart Color Dare #158 using the sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #124.  To give Piglet more dimension I cut extra parts and glued them on top of the finished image, and then brushed or distressed Cotton Candy Ink around his image.

For the inside of the card I just did some pink balloons along the edge with each of the Friends (Pooh, Tigger, Eyore and Piglet) and added a decorative strip along the side.

Hey Foxy Happy Birthday

This card was made for my Grand-daughter's 17th Birthday using the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #123 and colors from ColorMyHeart Color Dare #157.  I knew the stamps I would be using for a very awesome teen who adores anything with a fox and the colors work to bring in a little Chic. Paper Fundamentals made this card come together real easy.   For the inside of the card I just added more stamps and die-cuts.

Midnight on Halloween

The Sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 #185-141 Rewind, turned clockwise 90, was used for this card.  The cute owl image and sentiment is from Bugaboo Stamps.  I was confused as whether I should make this a Halloween card or a Christmas card.  I decided to go with a Halloween theme and colors; however, I just may create another card with a Christmas theme and colors...how cute would that be.

Turned Sketch clockwise 90 degrees because I needed the wider oval for the image
