Celebrate Golfing Card

6/21/2015:  Oops this card was updated to be a Father's Day Card from one of my son's...so much for a Husband Father's Day Card.  The boys gifted him with a day of Golf, so it was quite appropriate for his Father's Day Card.

For the Heart2Heart Challenge - Monday, May 11, 2015 "Game On" and The Outlawz Sunday CAS Challenge with Sports Twist, I decided to make a Father's Day Card for my husband using a free Golfing Clip Art from WebWeavers Free ClipArt, on the front of the card as my focal point, and for the inside other die-cuts from Cricut Design Space

I used design papers and cardstock from CTMH Paperpak "Jackson." The image on the top panel was colored with Shin-Han pens, adhered to panel with 3D Thin Foam Tape for dimension, and then added Wink of Stella to the Golf Ball.  The Sentiment "Happy Father's Day" was from CTMH Stamp Set D1629 "Just to Say Cricut Collection."

On Cricut Design Space die-cuts were made from the following Cartridges
Front of Card
  Once Upon a Princess "Celebrate"
All Sports "Fore" - Golf Ball
Inside of Card
  Word Collage - Golf
Using Text "Enjoy Your Day of Golfing"

Added Clear Wink of Stella on the Die-Cut Golf Ball

Cherry Blossoms & Butterflies

My card this week is another combined Challenge:  ColorMyHeart Color Dare #144 and Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #109, using a wax paper technique for the background.

In my daughter's Three Amigo's Blog Hop (Paper Menagerie: Three Amigo's Blog Hop) this technique was mentioned and looking further into the technique, I found you could use an Embossment Folder and run the wax paper through the Cuttlebug and then follow the rest of the wax paper technique...so simple and elegant.  For the Embossing Folder Technique my source was Cuttlebugged Wax Paper technique Gina K Designs video from 2009.

The Folder I chose was by Darice "Cherry Blossom Background" in A2 size.  I ran through 5 wax paper designs in the A2 size, and ironed on White Daisy Cardstock.  Sponged three of the cardstock pieces each with one of the Colors in the challenge (CTMH Inks Juniper, Ruby and Canary) and cut to the sizes needed for the Sketch Challenge and layered.  The other two cardstock pieces randomly placed all three colors for the main background to fit a 5x7 card.   I found that you don't have to be afraid to sponge on ink until you get your color, the waxed area does not absorb much of the color.

My mind was already set to do a cluster of butterflies for the focal point, using CTMH Stamp Set C1613 "Paper Bird".  Stamped two for each color of the challenge, dry embossed using Darice "Crackle," fussy-cut, distressed each and glued butterfly with the coordinating color, adhered to card, and used liquid glass on the body and antenna's.

To finish off the card the polka dot accent across the middle of the card was added, along with the a fussy-cut sentiment "smile" from the same Stamp Set "Paper Bird". Inside of Card, placed three stamped butterflies in each challenge color on the bottom right-hand corner.  Did I need Wink of Stella, I don't think so...liked the muted colors with no sparkle.

Suzy Mae Tutti Frutti

This card was made combining the Sketch #234 from Sweet Sketch Wednesday Challenge and the Heart2Heart Challenges May 25, 2015 Theme Tutti Fruiti.   Once again I have brought together Strawberry and Lemon...for our family's favorite drink at Red Robin "Strawberry Lemonade" and all you can drink.  Lazy Sunshines Stamp "Suzy Mae Strawberry Flower Pot Pretties" was just the stamp I needed for my selected PaperPak "Taste of Summer."

I laid out my background papers first and decided to add a hexagon grid over the papers.  After I colored Suzy Mae with a variety of ShinHan Alcohol-Base Pens I decided on the Oval Colors, popping up the purple from the flowers in the image, and adhered oval with 3D Thin Foam Tape and then fussy-cut Suzy Mae, really fussy-cut to an extreme (see close-up picture below), placing her on the Oval Panel with 3D Thin Foam Tape.  Before adhering Suzy Mae I stamped the Sentiment in Black on the Strawberry Pot.

Now the embellishments:  I stamped, colored, fussy-cut, placed and then applied Liquid Glass to all the tutti frutti.  Berries look good enough to eat, and the Lemon, well pucker up.

Cyberspace Graduate

This card was made for my sister-in-law...she has finally joined us in Cyberspace, the online world of computer networks...great news.  She's attempted new technology a couple of different times but with little success; but she recently dived into Pinterest...it's a start.

The background is from CTMH Paper Fundamental Basic Assortment "Black" and Gold heat embossed on edges.  Used Flaxen also from Paper Fundamentals for the three borders, around focal point and sentiments and Gold heat embossed around all edges.

Owl and Assessories:  Owl stamped on Flaxen with VersaMark and heat embossed with gold powder and popped up with 3-D Foam Tape.  Graduation Hat and Glasses were die-cuts from Cricut Design Space (See Below) CTMH Black Glitter Paper, hat adhered with 3D Foam Tape.  The Branches were stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed with Black powder and placed with 3D Thin Foam Tape.

Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #143 is Daisy White, Black and Gold and/or Flaxen, so I thought I would use these colors for her card, and follow a Sketch from Sunday Stamps, a new challenge my neighbor introduced me to.

Other Challenges Entered:  Although this is not a square card, I believe it's a good interpretation to the Sweet Sketch Wednesday2 Challenge #55 and The Outlawz Greeting Challenge - Anything Goes and Heart2Heart May 18 Extra Extra Read All About It.

Please stop by and look at the DT's inpirations for Sunday Stamps, Color Dare and Sweet Sketch Wednesday, The Outlawz, and Heart2Heart and all the crafters that have entries...still time to join any of these challenges.

A suitable substitution and/or addition to this combo would be our exclusive color Flaxen. It's the best shade of gold we have in inks and cardstock!

Floral Flurries

I was playing around with a bunch of stamps and decided to make my own Design Paper for another Color Card Challenge; however it didn't work out for that particular card.  I didn't want to discard so I decided I would use it for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #108.   I asked my daughter what I should call this Design Paper and she suggested "Floral Flurries."

As I worked with this Sketch I realized I was covering a lot of my Design Paper, so my cuts of panels were made smaller, and I stamped and fussy-cut (3) of the Larger Flowers and layered over the panels with 3-D Thin Foam Tape, and finished with gold glitter and liquid glass for the flower centers.  Added purple Glitter Tape for the ribbon, and replaced the bow with a Glitter Butterfly backed with vellum, and added liquid glass to the body.

On the Sentiment Panel:  Cricut Design Space "CTMH Art Philosophy" cut two ovals with scallops using Gypsy and White Daisy cardstock, one larger than the other, layered and stamped Sentiment from D1629 "Just to Say Cricut Collection."

"Floral Flurries" is made up of (4) CTMH Stamp Sets and Variety of Inks:

  • C1247 "Simple Blossoms"  Large Flowers stamped Honey
  • S1411 "It's The Little Things SOTM"  Small 5-Petal Flowers stamped Gypsy, Sunset and Pacifica; Stem and Leaves stamped Sand; Large 5-Petal Flower stamped Gypsy
  • D1275 "Serendipity"  The Large and Small Flairs stamped Topiary; Circle with Stripes stamped Pacifica, and 5-Petal Flower stamped Honey
  • D1413 "Cherished Flourishes"  Small Flair stamped Purple; and Large Flair stamped Sunset
Please stop by Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge to see the Design Teams creations and other entries and hopefully giving you inspiration to join this challenge.

Christmas is Love with all the Trimmings

This card was made for Outlawz Challenges - Progressive Freebie for the month of May, using PPinkyDollsart image.  First I colored the image (I'll call her Crissy) with a variety of ShinHan pen colors, and then fussy cut.  There were a few attempts to die-cut a nice ribbon for her hair decoration instead of the holly/berries; but wasn't completely satisfied so stuck with a Christmas theme using CTMH PaperPak "SnowHaven."

Using Cricut Design Space, the Die-Cut background is from CTMH Artbooking "Ornament Cascade."  Initially I cut with white card stock and was going to somehow decorate the ornaments; but decided to try a cut using the SnowHaven Design Paper, and was pleased with the results and glued to the white cardstock as a layer.  Tried different backgrounds with another printed paper from SnowHaven but it made the card too busy and chose to use the white background.  So Crissy didn't have to be quite so fussy-cut because it blended with the background.  Criss was added to card with 3D Foam Tape, and I added a second toy/gift to the background by her feet.  The Sentiment from CTMH  D1554 Christmas Village Holiday, was a match to this card.

Halloween Peek-a-Boo Kitty

While cruising through The Outlawz Challenges Freebies, I found a digital image shared by Sami Stamps Shop "Halloween Kitty" and decided to do a Halloween Card using the Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 #54 for the card.  Though it may be a little early for Halloween, but with how time flies, before you know it...Halloween will be here.

The paper used for this card was paper from Joanne's, and all cardstock is CTMH.  The die cuts were all cut from Cricut Design Space using CTMH Black Glitter Paper and using the following cartridges:  Spiders "Doodlecharms", Corner Webs "CTMH Artbooking", and the cats "CreativeBug."  Liquid Glass was used on the spiders, and the focal point was raised with 3D Thin Foam Tape.

Polka Dots & Stripes with Flower - AHSC Winner Top 3

Using the Sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #106 and using the Colors from Color My Heart Color Dare #141, I made this card.  I didn't put a sentiment intentionally but it is intended for a Mother's Day Card; however, with no sentiment it can be used for any future occasion card. The flower and stem on the card were from CTMH Stamp Set D1247 "From Me to You"

My mom passed away several years ago; but this would have been her Mother's Day Card...she loved her flowers.  Her yard was a Botantical Garden of an assortment of very colorful flowers.  She would pick fresh flowers almost daily and would display them in a vase either in the living room or dining room tables.  This card is for you Mom.

Strawberry Lemonade and a Little Honey

At a crop this weekend I won a CTMH PaperPak and Stamp Set "CC1039 Taste of Summer Constant Campaign" and decided to use these for Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 #53, and use the Bery Bee Honey image from Bugaboo Digi Stamps.

A
t the Crop I was introduced to The Outlawz Challenges ...which has a challenge each day of the week.  This will be my first entry for the Thursday Challenge "Anything Goes" with a Twist to add a charm.  I don't have any charms but since the twist is optional, I will enter without.  I'm still doing a lot of reading and traveling through this site, so why not start with what I feel is a special card for "Anything Goes."

Who doesn't like Strawberry Lemonade (especially at Red Robin, a favorite)...and then add a touch of Honey.  I added the Lemon, strawberry zip strip and Sentiment as my bow.  The Center circle is cut from Cricut Design Space, using Edge to Edge Cartridge (circle doily pattern overlay), which gives the affect of a big flower Bery Bee has got comfortable in...also like the affect that the pretty paper beneath peaks through.  Bery Bee was colored with a variety of ShinHan alcohol pens.  3D Thin Foam Tape was used to raise Bery Bee, the flower, Strawberries and Sentiment.  Finished off with a little Wink of Stella on the berries and Bery Bee's Wings.

My daughter and I were having a discussion on Bery Bee and she indicated that it was a Bear dressed up as a Bee...I wondered why the Bee had ears and legs.  So, the question was to use either "You're Berry Special" or somehow change the Berry "You're Beary Special" and my decision "You're Berry Special" just seemed to fit with the Lemon Sentiment and the Strawberry Zip Strip.

Please visit Sweet Sketch Wednesday and The Outlawz Design Teams inspiration for this challenge, and don't forget to stop by Bugaboo Digi Stamps to see the many fun images.

A Happy Hello - Kaleidoscope

My inspiration for the ColorMyHeart Color Dare #140 came from one of the cards my daughter made when this Stamp Set "A Happy Hello" Stamp of the Month came out.  Using Cricut Design Space CTMH Artiste, I chose a swing card and cut from Colonial White.

Using VersaMark I stamped the variety of circular stamps on White Daisy, and some from Stamp Set W2031 Kaleidoscope Blooms, using Embossment Powders closest to Ruby and Crystal Blue and heat embossed all images in both colors.  Then came the fussy-cut for each layer of the Kaleidoscopes and placing on the card creating several layers with 3D Thin Foam Tape.  Added ruby beads to the center of each Kaleidoscope.

The swing card is nice because as you are decorating the front of the card you are also decorating the inside.  See pictures below for inside of card.  Sentiment came from "A Happy Hello" stamp set as well and was stamped on front of card.

The inside decorative frame was cut from Cricut CTMH Artiste from Colonial White and Crystal Blue Cardstock and left blank until it becomes a personalized card.

Please go to the Color Dare to see the Design Team inspirations for this challenge, and join the Challenge, colors are fun to work with.
