Hugs & Kisses, It's Your Day - AHSC #225

My card this week as Design Team Member for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #225. Join this challenge...you have until Sunday, Aug 20th to enter your project.

This card was combined with MFT Color Challenge #75 and The Flower Challenge "Focus Background Stamped Flowers" using the Swirly Bird Ribbon for Seize the Birthday "Tie One On", but missed the deadline date for submitting.

The design team reveal for this sketch will be on Wednesday, so be sure to stop by to see the beautiful cards from the rest of the design team and other entrant inspirations for this challenge...and stop by every Monday for new sketches. Don't wait for the DT post to create your project...show us up with your artwork.

Please visit the other challenges to see the Design Team Members inspiration and other entrants...and you still have time to join in the challenges.

Loved the Color Challenge, but after creating and submitting my card, not sure it will qualify, because I did not use any MFT product.  However, it did not say you must use MFT products but being that it a blog for MFT it may be assumed.  I will be back here to meet another challenge and will use some of my MFT products.

Using an assortment of Stamp Sets the floral background was stamped using CTMH inks closest to the colors in the challenge.  My personal design paper was framed with Lagoon cardstock and adhered to card with a foam backing for dimention.  Instead of the round sentiment in the sketch, decided to cut (2) Swirly Bird Ribbons in Sea Glass and Lagoon, pieced and adhered to foral panel. Sentiment stamped below the Ribbon.

On the inside of the card a border was stamped using one of the same stamp sets using Sea Glass ink.

Live Beautifully - H2H Aug Wk #3

This is my Design Team project for Heart2Heart "Sketch Challenge" ... what a fabulous sketch created by Haley Dyer.  It's fun to see how one sketch can be interpreted in so many creative ways.

My choice was to use "Live Beautifully" and everything on this card are selections of design papers within the packet.  No dies, No sentiment, No embellishments...just some fussy-cutting of the flower and diagonal strip. Adhered both the strip and flower with 3D thin foam tape and used the bone to curve the edges of the flower for more dimension.

Join us at Heart2Heart this week and other challenges in August ... Remember you have all month to create to be eligible for recognition as one of the Top 10 "Darlings".  AND if you create a project for each challenge in the month of Aug, you will earn a badge as an H2H Addict for Perfect Attendance.

A Very Merry Christmas - AHSC #224

My card this week as Design Team Member for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #224. Join this challenge...you have until Sunday, Aug 13th to enter your project.

The twist for Happy Little Stampers "Christmas" was a poinsettia, and I had the perfect die for this sketch.  Die cut a red and a green poinsettia band and pieced the red flower into the green band. Chose my design papers from White Pines.

The design team reveal for this sketch will be on Wednesday, so be sure to stop by to see the beautiful cards from the rest of the design team and other entrant inspirations for this challenge...and stop by every Monday for new sketches. Don't wait for the DT post to create your project...show us up with your artwork.

On the inside of the card a border die cut using one of the same design papers from the front of the card.

Family Camping - H2H Aug Week #2

H2H Aug 2nd Week
"Camp Out"
Hostess:  Sue Reynolds

This week's Challenge is all about "Camp Out".  Be a Happy Camper ... camping out at home, a friend's home, a favorite coffee house, a store sale, a camp ground in a tent, a trailer or cabin.

Oh, so many memories with our Camp Outs ... so it was not  difficult for me to choose my theme...I won't bore you with our family history here; but if you are intereted go to the end of this post.

Cricut Design Space had "Camping Critters" as a freebie in July, so knowing this theme would be coming up in August, I immediately cut and put together the car with all the luggage so that I would have it when this theme came up. The car was so cute I couldn't resist and had to finish my card.  This reminded me of our camping excursions using a small car (volkswagon) with luggage on top, 5 bikes hinged to the car, and five of us and groceries inside...fun, fun, fun.

From the same "Happy Campers" design papers there was a border design which I cut out like banners and attached to the inside edge.

My Family's Camping History

1971 - We bought our first tent (12' x 12') with an outside screened in canapy (12' x 9'). Our daughter and my youngest at the time (David) was about 6 months old so we needed a nursery room.  We had an old dresser on the back of the truck which we filled with our weekend clothes and added a pad to the top and used as a changing table in our tent.  We had two sets of bunk beds placed on each side of the dresser, and a portable crib which was placed in the middle ... and believe it or not we still had room left over for a coleman heater and a porta-potty.

Our outside screened in room was our kitchen and dining room.  I had a pantry cupboard that contained all the dishes and kitchen utilities, along with a Coleman stove which we placed on a 8' Folding Table with space left over for preparation of meals.  Our cooler was placed under the table.  And a Big Coleman Drink Cooler filled with Kool-aid and Ginger Ale.

Every weekend from Memorial Day to the end of October we re-packed our dresser, grocery shopped, and we were ready to go.  We went to different campgrounds each week. Then when we got back, laundry and more groceries for the next weekend.  I always said these were our best camping days.  We tented for approximately 2 and a half years (3 summer seasons)

1973 - We upgraded to a pop-up trailer, still went to different trailer parks every weekend; but then decided in 1975 we rented a site at Darien Park for two years so that we didn't have to pull the trailer and we didn't have to set up a tent for residence.  This is where our little red volkswagon came in.  A site to be seen and my Dad had a site up on the hill and could see us come up from the gate.  Luggage piled high on top, groceries behind a cubby hole in the back seat, 3 kids in the back seat, and 5 bikes hinged in the back and/or front of the car.  We thought this was easier than packing up the truck each week, but when you think of it the preparation for camping for the weekend was the same, and the same clean-up when you got back.

1975 - We decided to buy a lot in at Fawn Lake and used our pop-up trailer as our first home on this lot, and two seasons later we upgraded to a Star Craft Trailer which slept 8 and comfortably the five of us.  But many occasions we squeezed in a few more guests and on one occasion slept 12 using a small tent up on the hill of our lot.  My daughter enjoyed going every weekend because of many friends she got acquainted with, and being a young teen so many boys.  Every weekend and vacations were enjoyed out at our lot.  We eventually sold the lot since family interests had changed.

Axing For Trouble - Color Dare #255

Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #255: This week we are challenging you to using the color palette from "Jack" paper pack to use (ALL and ONLY) these CTMH Colors in Jack:  Ruby, Slate, Sapphire, Willow, Black and White Daisy and Optional: Silver.

My DT card for Color Dare was combined with the Tuesday Morning Sketch #414 and Three Amigos BlogHop Inspirational.  Selecting the PML card for the smaller panel made it easy for me to use the Lumberjacks on the design paper (fussy-cut and layered) in place of the buttons, and a cricut cut of axes in place of the bow.  Now all it needed to satisfy the color challenge and sketch was a design paper from Paper Fundamentals "Enchantment-Sapphire".

On the inside of the card a couple of zip strips from the "Jack" paperpack was used with a couple of axes.

Sweet - AHSC #223

My card this week as Design Team Member for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #223. Join this challenge...you have until Sunday, Aug 6th to enter your project.

Decided to do a whimsical card for a baby shower, toddler birthday and even those teenagers and adults who adore unicorns. The other day purchased a Doodle-Pops Sticker and matched it up with Little Dreamer Paperpack because of the colors and whimsical design papers.  Added some sparkly starts but didn't go out of the box with my sketch interpretation because the design papers and layering were just what my Unicorn needed.

Happy Birthday - Color Dare #254

Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #254: This week we are challenging you to using the color palette from the "Prickly Pear" paper pack to use (ALL and ONLY) these CTMH Colors in Prickly Pear: Blossom, Emerald, Lemon, Poppy, Sapphire, Sea Glass, Sorbet, Tangerine and White Daisy OR (choosing 3-4 of the colors and neutrals).

Making a Birthday Card for my daughter-in-law who just moved back to New York, so I wanted a little bit of Arizona (cacti) and the summer flowers of New York (Floral background).  Took one of the PML cards and cut out the white space to use for a shaker card.  From the complements added a cactus, a small flower and  a heart to the outside of the shaker.  Framed shaker with a design paper, using one of my tailored stitches and attached to the background.  Sentiment was a die, layered and adhered to bottom.

If you don’t have these CTMH colors you may substitute similar colors. Hop on by and see the many inspirational cards by our DT and other entrants.

August Sneak Peeks will be coming out soon challenging you to using the color palette from "Jack" paper pack.

On the inside of the card added some of the complements on the bottom corner and design sheet on the border.

Love "Cat and Mice" - AHSC #222

My card this week as Design Team Member for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #222. Join this challenge...you have until Sunday, July 30th to enter your project.

Looking through my dies Paper Smooches "Cat Icons" was my choice and looking at the sketch saw the cat in the upper frame and then three little mice in the lower frame. Cut two layers for the Cat and Mice and between layers put white cardstock behind the eyes, and inked in a pink nose.

Back awhile ago through Peachy Cheap I purchased My Mind's Eye packet that included 6 x 6 design papers, stickers and some PML cards. Chose a pretty floral pattern for my background paper and then a brick wall for the two frames and a splash of dots between the frames and cut black cardstock as a layer to the back of each of the design papers.

From the stickers I used the balls of yarn for the two circles and Love for my sentiment. Cut my frames and layers. This is not common for me but all these decisions even before putting the card together ... and it actually all fell in place with no changes from my original choices.

The design team reveal for this sketch will be on Wednesday, so be sure to stop by to see the beautiful cards from the rest of the design team and other entrant inspirations for this challenge...and stop by every Monday for new sketches. Don't wait for the DT post to create your project...show us up with your artwork.

Paw Prints were die cut and adhered to the bottom corner of the inside, along with a strip of the splash of dots along the border.
